At Horsebox Workshop we specialise in the sale and care of 3.5T horseboxes. We are now supplying what we feel is a hybrid between a traditional Coach built horsebox and a van conversion. Van conversions have the advantage of being very safe and solid, mainly because they retain much of the original van body. They are also easy to handle and manoeuvre and don’t need designated parking areas like some larger vehicles. But many van conversions can feel a bit cramped and dark. And some have an internal height only suitable for the transport of small horses and ponies. Our Crossovers have a specially moulded and extended roof, to allow for 7ft 8in in head height, comparable to a traditional coachbuilt horsebox. The full wall and double door layout of the Crossovers mean there is an area separate from the horse standing for changing, keeping tack clean etc. A popular safety feature that many modern horseboxes are now adapted for is the ‘emergency exit’: Wide back doors and collapsible breast bars to enable a rear exit, should the ramp be compromised. All our Crossovers have emergency exits. At Horsebox Workshop we make light and ventilation a priority. So, all our new builds come with lots of windows and an opening skylight as standard. Reversing and internal horse area cameras plus a cab to horse area inspection window are also standard features.

What’s in the box?
As standard, in the Horse area, our Traditional Crossover comes with:
Horse area camera, plus cab to horse area opening inspection window.
So you can see them, and they can hear you.
A further four opening widows plus a skylight with an integrated, temperature-controlled, remote-controlled fan 😲
Two different types of lighting.
White lights for loading and calming red lights for travelling after dark.
Fully sealed ‘one-piece’ rubber flooring and flush fit ferruled drainage holes.
So the horse area can be fully pressure washed.
Twin tack lockers bridged with a lightweight, removeable ‘jump deterrent’.
Horsebox workshop designed removeable breast bar for emergency exiting.
EVA partition padding, plus all the hooks, straps, tie points and retainers needed for easy loading, unloading and travelling 😊
Our Stallion Crossover comes with all the above except the breast bar and tack lockers. Instead, the stalls are 'long' with coned wheel arches and dual partitions.
In the back:
Two opening windows.
USB and 12v points for phone and tablet charging.
Long mirror for full outfit checking.
Two jauntily angled poles, designed to keep saddles in place even on rough terrain.
Plus bridle cups, coat hooks and a handy hanging storage unit.

Aluminium Grilled Partitions:
Our standard partitions are strong and sturdy with soft curves.
For vertically endowed horses (or the more petite who insist on a bit of pizzazz 😉), our larger aluminium grilled partitions offer support without a side of claustrophobia.
Easy Latch Padded Jockey Doors:
We’ve done our research! 99% of jockeys prefer easy latch doors (the other 1% vault over them 🤷♀️).
Removeable Sniffer/Bite boards:
With ventilation holes so neigh-bours (sorry! 🫢) can be seen but not nibbled!
Bespoke loading gates:
Second horse wants to try and make an exit before you get the ramp up? Loading gates let them know they’re in for the haul 🔒
